Starcraft Zerg Strategy – Beating Phoenixes
This unit is the Protoss quick attack ship. It moves in quick and hits light, but its biggest advantage is being able to run and shoot at the same time. This can quickly pick off retreating units, or allow the Phoenix to retreat while still causing damage.
Of course, the Phoenix is only capable of shooting down aerial units. So, ground forces are mostly immune to its attacks. However, the Phoenix does have one more ability of use, the Graviton Beam. This ability lifts ground forces off of the ground and places them in the attack area of anti-air units. While this ability is channeling, the lifted unit is left unable to attack. So, how does the zerg deal with these units?
Your Key Units:

These are your main air-to-air combat units. They may only hit air, but that’s all you need when you’re facing off against Phoenixes. The disabling Graviton Beam is rendered useless and the Corruptor is free to attack. In addition it’s Corruption ability will make all those annoying Phoenixes drop 20% faster. Enjoy the free kills.

The Hydralisk is your small, cheap, low-tech answer to all things air. They do a fair amount of damage, but do suffer from a slight physical frailty. This is, of course, not an issue when facing off against Pheonixes. The air unit can’t return fire against a Hydralisk. And while the Graviton Beam will turn a Hydralisk into an easy kill, there are more likely more of your cheap units than there are of him, and he can only use that ability so many times. End result is you’re still there and he has tucked tail and ran.
What other types of units do you like using against Phoenixes?

In my opinion, Corruptor is a bad choice. Its too slow, and its good only if you are the attacker. And you rarely attack with Corruptors, since they hit air only..
Anyway, best way to beating Phoenixes is microing with Mutalisks. Mutalisks are very good against them, but you just dont try to pursue. Because their speed is equal with yours, but their range is higher and they able to hit while moving. So when they retreat, you retreat. When they attack, you aim one of them, take them down one by one. As you know Phoenixes needs to be managed, and your opponent probably try to hit and run as well.
Hydralisks are another best answer, but only you have alot of them. Yes, having more units is alway better but what I mean is you cant kill Phoenixes with few Hydralisks, because they able to lift them all and kill one by one. There are ambush tactics like throwing few overlords as a bait and suddenly unburrowing. Phoenixes are so fragile and expensive, so you can take one or two down in few seconds, and even that makes your opponent thinking to stop producing them, or hesitate to attack your overlords next time, even they unguarded.
Dont worry: In my opinion Phoenixes are not deadly Ovie hunters and Carrier supporters, like Corsairs of SC. (Man, what a nightmare they were..) But way to dealing with them is just the same with Corsairs.
