Starcraft Terran Strategy - Beating Ghosts  | read this item

They are the elite of covert ops within the Confederacy.  The Starcraft 2 Ghost is a master of stealth and quick kills.  Ever since the original Starcraft, they’ve been a feared unit.  Able to cloak and move about freely.  If that wasn’t bad enough, they command the single most devastating attack in Starcraft 2.  The Tactical Nuke.

Sure, the nuke gives you quite a while to either kill the Ghost or move your units, but if you’re caught unprepared, you’ll be unable to stop a cloaked Ghost from laying waste to all of your building.  Now, let’s take a look at how you can defend against this silent killer.  To make sure the nuke never find their targets.

Key Counter Units:

Anything with a Detector – The first order of business is to negate that Cloaking Field.  While active, you won’t be able to target the Ghost and certainly won’t be killing it.  Missle Turrets around your base are key, be sure to have some units on standby in your base to take care of the threat.  The Turrets won’t be able to attack the Ghost, just negate the cloak.

Heavy Hitters – You want the ghost dead as fast as possible.  With its Sniper Shot, the Ghost can kill off any number of units with a single bullet.  Which means, you’ll want it dead before it can get off a shot.  Its not over kill till you can kill it with one volley from your army.

Additional Strategy points:

Use Scanner Sweep – If you suspect a Ghost, or you’re trying to prevent a nuke strike, the best bet is to use a Scanner Sweep. It will negate the cloak of any hidden unit in a large area for a few seconds. This will allow you to target and destroy them.

Include Ravens – The Detector ability of the Raven will reveal any nearby Ghosts.  So, if you’re out and about with your army, you can eliminate Ghosts before they have a chance of nuking your army.
