Starcraft 2 Achievement Hunting: FFA Achievements
Over the past week, Nghtmr9999 has been bringing us awesome guides on how to complete Starcraft 2 Achievements. He’s brought us a guide to completing the Outmatched Achievements as we as a quick guide to getting the Zergling Rush Achievement. The guides are easy to follow and will help anyone that’s at a loss and can’t stand not having an achievement.
This time around, Nghtmr9999 is giving us some solid advice on how to complete the FFA achievement set against the AI. With this guide you’ll be able to complete 4 achievements at once and on top of that unlock a new portrait, Orlan.

Hey folks, Nghtmr9999 here with another installment of ‘Achievement Hunting with Nghtmr9999.’ Today, I will be showing you how to unlock 4 achievements at once, The Insane/Very Hard/Hard/Medium FFA Achievements. Unfortunately, there is no guaranteed unlock like my previous two guides. I can only offer advice to give you the best chances of succeeding. As a new feature, whenever I have thoughts of my own to add, they will show up in this color.
First of all, you want to play on the map Extinction as a Terran against 7 Zergs. When the match starts, load all of your SCVs into your Command Center and fly to the island expansion in the north-eastern side of the map. Unfortunately, one lone SCV will be left behind, so park him near an expansion for the time being. When you get to the island expansion, land your Command Center and being harvesting. The AI for the most part will leave you alone unless you attack first.
Your goal will be to rush to Battlecruisers. You’ll want to have a lot of them (I had about 29). As you can imagine, this will take quite a bit of resources. The expansions I took were the three in the Northwest corner of the map (including two blocked by rocks). Before you move out, be sure you have 3/3 upgrades, as well as the Yamato Cannon research. Also, build an Engineering Bay and construct 2 to 3 rows of Turrets in an arc on the West, Southwest, and South faces of the island (see below).
With your fleet of Battlecrusiers, begin eradicating the remaining Zerg computers. The turrets you constructed should repel the air counterattack of the remaining computers. Build BCs to replace the ones you lose and eventually you should come up on top.
When I moved out, there were only two computers left. I eliminated the first, and as I began attacking the last computer, it massed Corruptors to counter my Battlecrusiers. It then sent its army to destroy my base. My Missile Turrets made quick work of its Mutalisks, Corruptors and Overlords, causing it to retreat. I then noticed something strange. The insane computer stopped building units altogether. Maybe it’s because ground units could not reach my base, and air would be decimated from my turrets. Whatever the reason, I slowly chipped away at the computer and got the gg.
Also, if you need to switch to Vikings to counter the Zerg’s air, feel free to do so. Just destroy everything and win, whatever it takes.
I hope I gave some insight on how to accomplish this achievement. I also apologize that this guide isn’t as direct as my previous two. However, if you succeed, you will unlock a whopping 4 achievements (that’s right 4, the FFA achievements stack), a portrait, and your friends will be jealous when they see your achievement spam.
If you have suggestions for future guides, send me a PM on the forums. If you need additional tips on beating the insane computer, feel free to PM me or comment in this thread. Also, as far as I know, having spectators doesn’t affect the achievement. If you want me to spec your attempt and be your ‘eyes in the sky’ of sorts, or if you just want to play some fun games, send me a message in-game. Just be sure to tell me you are from Starcrafting. Until next time!
