Lee, Jung-Hwan (AnyproPrime) Protoss vs Kim, Sang-Cheol (oGsEnsnare) Terran
Game 1 Xel’Naga Caverns
In the first game of the third match of the day’s matches sees AnyproPrime in the Northeast base and oGsEnsnare in the Southwest base. Ensnare forgoes the wall in and builds a tight defensive base. Standard builds from both players otherwise for the openers.
Moving into the early game, oGsEnsnare moves into a fast expand while AnyproPrime techs into a robo build. When Ensnare moves his expand CC into position, Anypro lands a pylon in the landing zone and prevents the optimal CC positioning for a short time. Ensnare attempts a proxy bunker but is caught in the process.
As both players transition into their mid-game, naturals are taken by both sides. oGsEnsnare attempts a couple drops with Medivacs and is driven back both times by AnyproPrime. In the backfield, transitions are seen into Ghosts and Colossus. Noteably Nuke play is show from Ensnare. Army builds consist of Colossus/Stalkers/Sentries vs MMM/Vikings.
A small drop is extremely successful against the Protoss main as the main armies skirmish. Heavy losses from both sides, but Ensnare is able to reinforce faster than Anypro and results in a GG from AnyproPrime.
Game 2 Kulas Ravine
The second game of the third match puts AnyproPrime in the southwest position and oGsEnsnare in the southeastern position. Scouts from both players produce results rather late. This gives Ensnare time to intercept the Probe and prevent the scout. An early push from a couple Marauders puts some early pressure on Anypro resulting in heavier loses on the Protoss side. The push is eventually repelled with the move into mid-game.
Early Dark Templar is teched by AnyproPrime. In order to counter this, Ensnare opts to move into Banshees and a Raven. He spots a third Protoss base and utilizes Banshees for a quick cap while the MM ball moves to take out the undefended expansion. Anypro moves from Dark Templar into Void Rays for harass and get some very successful harass as a single fully charged Void Ray takes out an entire expansion.
Armies continue to build and engage as the balance of power shifted into Ensnare’s favor. Eventually, Anypro falls too far behind and gives the final GG.
Final: AnyproPrime 0:2 oGsEnsnare
Han, Kyu-Jong (Clide) Terran vs Ahn, Hong-Wook (HongUnPrime) Protoss
Game 1 Lost Temple
Starting in the eastern base is Clide and in the western base HongUnPrime. Standard builds to start for both players. Fast robo is shown from HongUn and Reaper scouting from Clide reveals it.
Both players move into their expansions during the early game. Observer is used to keep an eye on how Clide is teching. A significant intel advantage for the Protoss to create appropriate counter units. Clide pushes with a small force but is repelled at HongUn’s expansion. Immediately following, a Medivac drop is attempted but is aborted halfway through before significant damage is done to save the drop for later.
Two more Medivacs are loaded up and a second drop is attempted and causes significant army damage to HungUnPrime. The drop is pulled back and sent back in for another shot and again has a successful drop sequence. Never losing a Medivac, he is able to focus on a transition to Vikings.
Taking advantage of the successful drops reducing the Protoss army, HongUnPrime isn’t able to hold resulting in a GG.
Game 2 Scrap Station
In the second game of the match, the left base is occupied by Clide and the right base is taken by HongUnPrime. Clide opts to forgo the wall in and builds a tightknit base. HongUn is able to prevent scouting with quick microing of an early Zealot.
Clide starts with a MM ball push but misses a proxy pylon that HongUn uses to warp in early Dark Templar for some very effective harass. Clide is forced to use energy on scans as opposed to getting MULEs on the mineral lines. The Dark Templar are eventually taken care of but quite a few SCVs are lost in the process.
HongUnPrime builds up a Stalker/Zealot combo while teching to Colossus. Clide does attempt a MMM drop but is driven back easily by HongUn’s Stalker’s and loses a loaded Medivac in the process. At the same time, a main push is started with a Colossus/Stalker combo and pushes deep into Clide’s base. The early Dark Templar harass proves too much to overcome as Clide ends it in a GG.
Game 3 Metalopolis
In the final game of RO16 of the GSL Starcraft 2 Tournament, Clide is put into the southern base with HongUnPrime put into the western base. After a clean scout, HungUnPrime places a proxy pylon into the eastern natural. That leads onto the early game.
While HungUnPrime works towards early Void Rays, Clide does move his factory into a dark section of the Protoss base. Building a three Hellion push, he goes after the Probe line. The Protoss main force was already on the move. Some amazing micro action as the fight moves into the Terran main. Void Rays, Sentries, Stalkers all doing their part and is able to barely push through into Clide’s base.
Clide simply lost an incredibly even-matched micro battle to end in a GG.
Final: Clide 1:2 HongUnPrime
