Starcraft Protoss Strategy - Countering Reaper Rush | In Starcraft 2 Gameplay, each race has their own best rush tactic. For the Terran, its the Reaper Rush. This is an aggressive strategy that is designed to sacrifice your macro economy buildup in order to hit the harvesters of your opponent hard and fast. This has been a very successful rush strategy in the past against Protoss, as your units a more expensive to build and your counters require a bit of teching.
Without proper defenses, the Terran Reapers will hit your harvester and achieve kills in one or two shots. As a SC2 Protoss player, you’ll need to make sure you get the right units in place so that you don’t lose all of your Probes. So, let’s take a look at what you need to do to take care of a Reaper Rush.
Scouting a Reaper Rush:
When you scout out the Terran base, you’ll be looking for two things. First, is he mining gas early. If he is, this is an indication of a rush. Secondly, look for his Barracks. By the time that you have your scout in his base, he will be up to building a barracks in his build. If you don’t find it in his base, it has likely been proxied. Another sign of a rush.
Defending the Rush:
If he is harvesting gas and his Barracks are conspicuously missing, its time to set up your defenses for a likely rush. In terms of Terran, two different rushes could occur, a Reaper Rush or a Marauder Rush. Thankfully as Protoss, both require the same answer.
Many times SC2 Protoss players make the mistake of producing Zealots as fast as possible just to have units. This is a mistake as they will likely die to both Marauders and Reapers alike. What you need to work on is producing Stalkers. Once you have a couple Stalkers out and place them in you mineral line. You may also opt to place them behind the mineral line as the Probe may restrict movement.
At this point, the rush would occur and its simply an even micro battle to win. If you beat the rush, you’ll be in a stronger position with your economy and can push back or expand after you have some free resources to destroy the proxy Barracks.

Thanks a ton Papp, and the reason why it takes a bit to put your guide up on the website is that we have to format it, add bolding, space paragraphs out, find some images sometimes to go with the guide, etc.
So we definitely haven’t forgotten or skipped it, not at all, we actually WORSHIP those who help by submitting guides. It just takes a little time to prepare it as a news page article

i wrote that guide -_- and i wrote another and its just sitting in forums waiting for approval. http://starcrafting.com/forums/showthread.php?p=2419#post2419 kinda pissed about this. i don’t think ill be writing any more guides for this site

why are all the guides here only written in protoss and terran terms? reaper rushes 10x more effective against zerg so you will probably have more zerg players needing this info than others.
for the zerg players that are missing out, i always get a 14 gas and get enough to buy ling speed, then i pull drones off gas. The ling speed will allow you to catch and surround the reapers. Especially effective when on creep.
